The ball seemed to hang in the Christian County sky for an eternity, it's parabola ending in the back left corner of the south end zone at Ozark's Tiger Stadium Oct. 7.
There the two-point conversion pass bounced of several sets of hands – belonging to both Ozark Tigers and Nixa Eagles – before falling harmlessly to the artificial turf and securing Ozark's 28-27, double-overtime win in perhaps the greatest Backyard Brawl of all-time.
"That was the most stressful game of my life. I was praying," Ozark senior quarterback Jack Hulse said. "We got the trophy. Finally. It's awesome. It was a great game and I'm just so happy to come out on top. We finally got one for Ozark."
The win snaps Nixa's three-game winning streak in the series – and a run of five in six years – and improves Ozark's series lead all-time to 19-10.
