The Nixa Eagles saw their run of five straight Blue & Gold Championships snapped in 2015, but, after taking the top seed in the Gold Division, the Eagles have their sights set on starting a new streak.

But they know it's not going to be easy when the tournament tips off Dec. 26. The Blue & Gold runs through Dec. 29 with games at JQH Arena and Hammons Student Center.

"Being a No. 1 seed always brings a sense of pride to your team and program," Nixa coach Jay Osborne said. "It is a privilege and an honor to be placed in that position on the bracket. Backing that up can be a difficult challenge."

Nixa, ranked fourth in Class 5, is matched up with Strafford in the first round, at 11 a.m. Dec. 26 in JQH Arena. Coach Mike Wilson's squad won two of its first three games to start the season.
