On Homecoming night at Nixa High School, senior running back Nicos Oropeza starred on and off the field.

Oropeza was voted by his classmates as the homecoming king just minutes before the game and, during the game, Oropeza helped lead the Nixa Eagles to a 31-28 Central Ozark Conference victory over the Neosho Wildcats Sept. 16.

After a slow start, Neosho got on the board first with a two-play, 70-yard touchdown drive midway through the first quarter. From that point on, there would be three ties and six lead changes before the game ended.
