Nixa running back Sean Sample couldn't help but notice that Webb City's dandy running back tandem of Devrin Weathers and Durand Henderson saw the field Friday strictly on offense, per usual.
"I kind of envy them a little bit," said Sample, who starts on both sides of the ball, while also kicking and punting. "It's fun to do everything you can for your team. But to be rested like that definitely helps."
Even when Weathers and Henderson took to the field at Cardinal Stadium, they were in action only for a short while, as Webb City's offense did about whatever it wanted and was quick about it in a 55-14 victory over the Eagles.
Weathers, a super soph if ever there was one, rushed for 110 yards on only eight carries and two touchdowns, to go along with a 93-yard punt return for a touchdown. Henderson ran for 68 yards and three more scores.
The Cardinals totaled 320 yards on the ground and quarterback Cade Beason completed 8-of-11 passes for 116 yards.
"They're a complete team," Sample said. "They're big and fast. They have guys up front and on the edges."Â
Webb City (9-0), which wrapped up the Central Ozark Conference championship, held a 35-7 lead at the half.
Sample accounted for Nixa's touchdown in the opening half by breaking loose around the right side of the Eagles' offensive line for a 64-yard touchdown.Â
It was part of a 134-yard rushing effort by Sample in the first half alone. He finished with 17 carries for 153 yards.Â
Quarterback Hunter Crabtree snuck into the end zone in the fourth quarter for Nixa's second touchdown.
The Eagles consistently moved the ball, with three-and-outs being rare.
Coach Rich Rehagen called it the offense's best game of the season.
