Class of 2019 Athletic Hall of Fame inducted

Four Nixa High School graduates were inducted to the class of 2019 Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Mark Overstreet ('81-'12), Hope (Hunt) Whitman ('00), Terianne (Wolford) Brown ('00) and Ashlee (Johns) Johnson ('00). 

Mr. Overstreet was presented with this Hall of Fame award for his many years of service to Nixa Public Schools. He is currently employed as the Assistant Director of Penmac Education and as an Adjunct Professor of Lindenwood University. His involvement in education includes: 1981-1990 Athletic Director, Head Football, Head Baseball, Assistant Varsity Basketball coach at Houston High School. It is noted that his team beat Jay Osborne serveal times in basketball while he coached at Willow Springs and Clay Hanna in football while at Cabool High School. Other achievements include: 1984 South Central Association Football Coach of the Year; 1990-1996 Assistant High School football coach and Athletic Director; 1996-2012 Nixa High School Principal; 2012-2015 Nixa Youth Sports Director; 2012 Nixa Education Achievement Award and President of the Central Ozarks Conference 1998-2019. The following programs began under his direction: soccer, wrestling, swimming and the Academic Team. Mark resides in Nixa, Mo. with his wife Karen and their daughters, Nora and Drue.

Ms. Whitman is a graduate of the class of 2000 and participated in basketball, soccer and volleyball, lettering in all three. Hope received honors which include: Basketball - Honorable Mention All-Conference, 2nd Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-District, 1st Team All-Ozarks, 1st Team All-State and member of the State Champion team. After her senior year, Hope played in the following All-Star games: Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, Gerald A Pilz All-Star Game and the 23rd Annual All-Star Game. Volleyball - member of the Final Four team, Honorable Mention All-Conference, 2nd Team All-Conference and All-Ozarks Honorable Mention. Soccer - 1st Team All-District. She resides in Champaign, Il. with her husband Josh and their children Tate and Will.

Ms. Brown is a graduate of the class of 2000 and participated in basketball and volleyball, lettering in each sport. Terianne received honors which include: Miss Show-Me Basketball in 2000, AAU Missouri Player of the Year as a sophomore, USA Today All-American Honorable Mention, 3 year 1st Team All-Central Ozark Conference selection, KTXR Tournament MVP in 1998 and 1999, inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame and named one of the "Filbert Five". Terrianne is employed in Sales and resides in Rogers, Ark. 

Ms. Johnson is a graduate of the class of 2000 and participated in basketball, track and volleyball, lettering in basketball and volleyball. Ashlee received honors which include: Volleyball - All-State, All-Ozarks, All-Conference and All-District all four years; MVP of Ozark Grand Slam in 1998 and 1999 and in Laclede County Classics 1998. Basketball - All-District 1997-98 and member of State Championship team 2000. Track - second at State in high jump 1999. Shes resides with her husband Jermaine in Springfield, Mo. and is employed as an elementary school teacher.
