The Nixa Eagles basketball team competed in the annual Blue and Gold Tournament Dec. 26-31, 2020, at Missouri State University.
The Eagles were slated in the Blue Division as the No. 2 seed, and finished runners-up to No. 1 Hartville.
Opening up the tournament, Nixa faced Stockton and their offensive was firing on all cylinders, cruising to a 99-38 victory, and in the process, tied a tournament record for most three-point field goals in a game with 14.

In the quarterfinals, Nixa played non-seeded Camdenton, who upset No. 7 Mt. Vernon 65-79 in their opener, and was propelled by a 29-point third quarter en route of a 79-40 victory over the Lakers. The second string Eagles saw action for the majority of the final quarter and flourished, thanks to the play of Jordyn Turner and Jackson Bray.

Next up for the Eagles was well-known opponent and rival Parkview, who advanced to the semifinals by defeating Willard 62-29. The game was a battle from start to finish, with both teams exchanging buckets back-and-forth. The game was decided in the finals second as Colin Ruffin, with the game tied, drove to the basket and delivered a beautiful dump pass to Jaret Nelson in the paint, where he was able to muscle his way for a game-winning layup with under a second remaining. Nixa defeated Parkview 48-46 and the Eagles advanced to the Blue Division championship game to face the defending tournament and Class 3 State Champion Hartville.

The Blue Division championship featured the No. 1 and 2 seeds in the division and Nixa met their match and defending tournament champion in Hartville. Hartville led 17-8 after the first quarter and never looked back, despite a second half surge and rally for Nixa. With the lead in the fourth quarter, Hartville passed the ball around in one possession for over two minutes midway through the quarter until Nixa was finally forced to foul. Hartville edged Nixa in the end by nine, 56-46, and Nixa would drop their first game of the season and finish the tournament 3-1.
