Nixa graduate Chase Allen signs with Chicago Bears

5/2/2022 9:57:00 AM

Former Nixa standout Chase Allen has signed as an undrafted free agent with the Chicago Bears.

Allen was a three-star recruit via 24/7 sports during his time at Nixa and the 26th highest-rated tight-end. As a junior in 2014, Allen was apart of the state-runner up Eagles.

After his senior year, he received first-team All-State honors at the tight-end position, in a season where he caught 33 passes for 654 yards and seven touchdowns, while doubling as a linebacker.

Chase was more than just a football player during his time as an Eagle. He also was the 2015-16 Central Ozarks Conference player of the year on the hardwood, along with All-State honors on a team that won a district championship. He also won the 2016 Javelin State championship.

Allen chose to play for first-year head coach Matt Campbell at Iowa State, over Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, and many others.

He was awarded second-team All-Big 12 four times ('17, '19, '20, '21), First team Academic All-Big 12 every year of his career, and a 2021 Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement recipient. Allen caught 26 passes for 284 yards and 2 touchdowns in 2021.

Allen will join a Bears team that finished 6-11 last year, finishing third in the NFC North. Chicago's tight-end group includes Cole Kmet, Jesper Orsted, James O'Shaugnessy, and veteran, free agent, Ryan Griffin.

The Chicago Bears are led by second-year quarterback, Justin Fields, and first-year head coach, Matt Eberflus.

Allen will begin his fight for a spot on the 53-man roster during rookie mini-camp which will take place May 6-9 followed by full-team OTA's.
