2024 state football quarterfinals information: Nixa at Lee's Summit North Nov. 22

Nixa football secured back-to-back district titles with a 48-21 defeat over Joplin.

En route to the title, Nixa extended its undefeated season to 11-0 and defeated Ozark 35-8 and Joplin 48-21 before lifting the trophy.

The win advances Nixa to the Class 6 state quarterfinals, where the Eagles face District 6 champion undefeated Lee's Summit North (11-0) on Friday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m.

The game is at Lee's Summit North High School (901 NE Douglas St, Lee's Summit, MO 64086).

The top-seeded Lee's Summit North Broncos in District 6 defeated Raymore-Peculiar 42-7 and Lee's Summit 29-15.

This quarterfinal matchup marks the second contest between Nixa and Lee's Summit North all-time. The two clashed in 2022 for the district title, and the Eagles fell 24-10. The Broncos went on to the state title game but lost to Christian Brothers College (CBC) in overtime 35-28.

Both teams feature high-power offenses. Entering the quarterfinals, Nixa is averaging 46 points a game, while Lee's Summit North averages 36.7. On the defensive side, Nixa holds a slight advantage, as the Eagles have held its opposition to single digits a game (9.6). The Broncos average 15.5 a game.

Nixa appeared in the state quarterfinals in 2014 and 2023. In 2014, the Eagles finished runners-up in Class 5 to Battle and fell to Rockhurst in the quarterfinals in 2023.

Other quarterfinal matchups include Jackson vs. Kirkwood, De Smet Jesuit vs. Rock Bridge, and Liberty North vs. Oak Park. The winner of Nixa and Rockhurst would face the winner of Liberty and Park Hill. Nixa did not meet any of the quarterfinal opponents in the regular season.
