Nixa's Guaranty Bank Athlete of the Week for the week of April 1-8 is sophomore golfer Peyton Burbridge.

The Eagles golf team competed in the Springfield Invitational at Millwood Golf Course on April 8, and Burbridge defeated the entire field of 80 golfers, shooting 68 (-3) to earn the top medalist of the tournament. 

Burdrigde helped the Eagles place second overall, one stroke behind Kickapoo's 294. This marks Nixa's second top-two finish, as the Eagles crowned the Bolivar Invitational a week prior.

"Southwest Missouri is loaded with very good and talented high school golfers, and the best players in the area were present at the SPS Invitational. Peyton battled a field of 80 and earned the title of 'The Medalist' (Champion), as He scored -3 under Par," said head coach, Jeff Lotz. "This is our second season with Peyton, and it has been a pleasure to work with him. He is a fine young man, a great teammate, and serious about his golf game. Peyton has been an important contributor to our team's success."
