Nixa cruises by Kickapoo with a big 56-7 victory

The Nixa Eagles extended their winning streak to six in a huge 56-7 win over the Kickapoo Chiefs.

Kickapoo entered the game 0-5, coming off a 38-29 loss to Glendale the week before.

In a big first half, where Nixa found itself ahead 49-7, the Eagles were on cruise control the entire second half and were able to rest the majority of its starters. 

Nixa totaled 597 yards (243 passing, 354 rushing) offensively and had a clean game, committing zero turnovers.

Defensively, the Eagles caused one forced fumble and blocked a field goal on special teams.

Running back Jayden McCaster got the first points of the game with a goalline rush to put the Eagles on top 7-0 with 7:34 showing on the clock in the first quarter. View the TD here. 

Nixa quickly added to the lead, as quarterback Adam McKnight connected with wide receiver Randy Flint wide open in the end zone with 4:28 left in the first quarter, upping its lead to 14-0. View the TD here.

With a little over two minutes left in the first quarter, McCaster found the end zone again, stretching his way in for a 21-point lead. View the TD here.

A few minutes into the second quarter, Nixa drove to the red zone, and McCaster slipped through the Chiefs defense and added another touchdown to his total. The Eagles led 28-0 following this TD. View the TD here.

The Eagles started to put the game away with a fourth McCaster TD, extending the lead to 35-0 with 6:56 remaining in the first half. View the TD here.

Kickapoo got its first and only with 4:16 remaining in the first half.

Nixa quickly responded with a touchdown, with McCaster rushing for his fifth TD of the night, powering through a Chiefs defender to get into the end zone. It was 42-7 following the score. View the TD here.

With 20 seconds left in the first half, McKnight threw his second TD, finding wide receiver Carter Mabe open in the end zone. View the TD here.

Halftime Score: Nixa 49, Kickapoo 7

In a slow start to the second half, RB Josh Ford broke away for a long touchdown to put the final points of the game up late in the third quarter.

Final Score: Nixa 56, Kickapoo 7

This dominating victory puts Nixa at 6-0 to start the season, and 4-2 all-time vs Kickapoo. Nixa will return home on October 10 to host Waynesville, coming off a 44-14 defeat to Glendale.
