Nixa High School hosted its fall National Signing Day on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025.
Nixa inked eight athletes to the next level. See below who signed where, why they chose their respective school, and what they plan on studying.
Alex Flannery: Southwest Baptist University, Cross Country/Track
Decision: I chose SBU because when I went on my visit, I immediately felt like I had a role on the team. Everyone there made me feel like I belonged, and I didn't really get that with the other schools I looked at. I was stuck between SBU and SCAD, but ultimately, I chose SBU.
Intended Major: Graphic Design
Reyes Martinez: Pittsburg State University, Cross Country/Track
Decision: What ultimately influenced my decision to choose Pittsburg State University was the strong sense of community I experienced during my visits, along with its outstanding academic and athletic programs. These opportunities will challenge me to become the best student-athlete I can be. The coaching staff's dedication to developing athletes, both on and off the field, truly impressed me as well. I was also considering a few other schools, but the opportunities for growth and the supportive environment at Pittsburg State stood out the most.
Intended Major: Plastics Engineering Technology
Piper Dunkel: Quincy University, Lacrosse
Decision: I chose Quincy University because of its strong academics, particularly the program I want to pursue. Their lacrosse team stood out to me because of the records they hold, and the inviting environment where I can grow and improve. The team seems really welcoming and connected as well. I was interested in a few other colleges that I visited over the summer, but most of them were on the east coast, which is farther than I wanted to be.
Intended Major: Radiologist
Shaelee Franck: University of Northern Iowa, Soccer
Decision: The reason I chose UNI was that I loved everything about the campus and got the opportunity to play Division I soccer. All of the girls were super welcoming, and the coaches made me feel like this was where I belonged.
Intended Major: Business
Grace West: Avila University, Softball
Decision: Avila is an amazing community, and the softball team is like a family, which is exactly what I wanted to be a part of, alongside their academic programs. I was interested in other schools before I learned about Avila, but none of them offered the athletic training program that I wanted to be a part of.
Intended Major: Kinesiology
Zane Stewart: Allen County Community College, Baseball
Decision: I chose Allen CC because I absolutely fell in love with the style of coaching that Head Coach Trey Harris gives his team. From the moment I stepped on their field, and I saw the way he led, I knew that's where I wanted to be. Allen also brings a lot of high-level experience from the coaching staff, with multiple coaches having played at the Division I and Minor league levels. I couldn't be more excited about the opportunity to compete in one of the best JUCO conferences in the country at Allen CC. There were several other schools I was very interested in and spoke with, but after meeting the coaching staff at Allen and interacting with some of their players, I knew Allen was the place I wanted to be.
Intended Major: Mathematics
