Nixa's offense powers postseason run

Nixa's offensive production has been a strength throughout the season, with the Eagles averaging nearly nine runs per game.

Miah Johnson, Jordan Phillips and Ossie Cooper anchor a lineup that features multiple players batting above .400.

Johnson leads the team with 13 home runs, while Cooper has recorded team highs in hits (60) and RBIs (43).

Phillips leads Nixa with 17 doubles and ranks second on the team with 57 hits. Johnson, Phillips, and Cooper have each driven in more than 40 runs this season.

Lead-off hitter Bradey Harper has added more than 50 hits, providing another consistent presence at the top of the lineup.

All four players are batting above .400.

Johnson and Phillips earned all-state honors following the 2025 season.

Defensively, the Eagles have allowed approximately seven runs per game, making run prevention another factor in Saturday's matchup.

Scouting Lee's Summit

Lee's Summit enters Saturday's quarterfinal after capturing its district championship with three consecutive victories.

The Tigers defeated Carthage 1-0 in the district quarterfinals and Webb City 14-6 in the semifinals before shutting out defending Class 5 state champion Raymore-Peculiar 6-0 in the championship game.

Lee's Summit has averaged approximately five runs per game while allowing a little over five runs per contest.

Outfielder Jordyn Northup leads the Tigers offensively, batting above .500 with 14 home runs and 34 RBIs.

Northup's 14 home runs established a school single-season record.

The Tigers are making their first state quarterfinal appearance since 2015.

Postseason history

Nixa is seeking its first state semifinal appearance since 1979, when the Eagles finished third and earned the program's lone state softball trophy.

Since 2000, Nixa has reached the state tournament three times: 2009, 2010, and 2021.

In their most recent appearance, the Eagles fell to Blue Springs South 6-2 in the 2021 quarterfinals. Blue Springs South went on to finish third in Class 5.

Lee's Summit has a history of postseason success, including consecutive Class 4 state championships in 2013 and 2014.

The Tigers returned to the state quarterfinals in 2015 but did not advance. Lee's Summit also finished third in 2003.

Although Nixa and Lee's Summit have not faced each other this season, the programs share four opponents: Carthage, Webb City, St. Elizabeth and Lee's Summit North.

Nixa defeated Carthage three times during the season but suffered defeats to Webb City and St. Elizabeth.
