The Nixa boys volleyball team has kicked off the 2026 season with three wins, and a key piece to the hot start is senior two-sport athlete, Colt McCoy.

Nixa knocked off Oak Park (3-2), St. Pius X (2-0) and Lee's Summit North (2-0), while tying Grain Valley and falling to Rockhurst to begin its season.

McCoy was a force at the net in those victories, accumulating a .395 hitting percentage on 60 kills, including three double-digit kill outings where he had 19 against Rockhurst, 16 against Oak Park and 12 against Lee's Summit North.

Defensively, he had five blocks and 33 digs, showing his all-around versatility. From the service line, he maintained an 85.5 serving percentage, helping Nixa finish third place at the Rockhurst tournament.

A member since the start of MSHSAA boys volleyball in 2024, McCoy has been an integral player for Nixa.

"Colt has had an outstanding start to the season, leading our team in both kills and hitting percentage across five matches during our opening weekend, where we finished with a strong 3-1-1 record. He posted an impressive .395 hitting percentage, demonstrating efficiency and consistency as a key offensive force," said assistant coach Emelie Orlando. "As a senior who has been part of our program since its inaugural year, Colt's leadership and experience are making a tremendous impact. His performance this weekend reflects both his growth as a player and his commitment to the program, setting the tone for a successful season."

Nixa currently resides 3-2-1 heading into its own-hosted tournament on April 10-11. The Eagles basketball big-man and volleyball's outside and middle hitter was sidelined in its contest vs. Rock Bridge where Nixa was handed its second defeat of the season.
