9/23/2026 9:50:00 AM

Through the first 16 games of the 2026 season, Nixa softball has combined stretches of explosive offense with a challenging schedule that has included conference opponents, tournament competition, and several high-scoring matchups.

The Eagles enter the next portion of the schedule with a 5-11 record after scoring 108 runs on 156 hits. Nixa is averaging 6.8 runs per game, and five Eagles are batting .400 or better through 16 games.

Nixa opened the season with consecutive wins over Perry, Okla., and Carthage, and later earned victories over Carthage, Smithville, and Neosho. The Eagles have produced 42 doubles, five triples, and 19 home runs.

Recent Stretch

Nixa returned home Sept. 22 following a four-game weekend at the Branson Festival and showed renewed offensive production against Joplin.

The Eagles trailed 8-1 after four innings before scoring seven runs over the final three frames in a 12-8 loss. Nixa finished with 15 hits.

Bradey Harper led the offense by going 3-for-5 with a home run, double, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Miah Johnson also homered, while Jordan Phillips collected three hits. Tenley Piwko added two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.

The 15-hit performance continued a season-long trend of production from multiple spots in the batting order.

Branson Festival Recap

Nixa played four games at the Branson Festival on Sept. 18-19, facing Marlow, Bartlesville, Mannford, and Dale, all from Oklahoma.

They were tested in each, falling on the opposite side of the scoreboard, but showed offensive prowess in those games.

Johnson recorded two hits and a double against Mannford. She followed with a 2-for-3 performance against Dale that included a triple, an RBI, and two runs scored. Abby Sloan also tripled against Dale, while Ella Phillips added a double as Nixa finished with seven runs and nine hits.

The tournament gave the Eagles four additional games before returning to their regular-season schedule.

Balanced Production

Ossie Cooper has led Nixa's offense through 16 games. Cooper is batting a team-best .519 with 27 hits and 24 RBIs. She has also recorded six home runs, four doubles, and 19 runs scored while posting a 1.511 OPS.

Johnson has supplied much of Nixa's power. She is batting .422 with 19 hits and leads the Eagles with nine home runs. Johnson has 21 RBIs, 18 runs scored, and a team-best 1.655 OPS.

Harper is batting .418 with 23 hits, seven doubles, and three home runs. Jordan Phillips is hitting .411 with 23 hits and leads the team with 10 doubles.

In the circle, Peyton Clopton has handled the majority of Nixa's innings. Clopton has pitched 66 innings, recorded five wins, and struck out 23 batters. Piwko and Phillips have also contributed innings for the Eagles.
