After a brief lull against arch rival Ozark, the Nixa Eagles were back to knocking the cover off the ball in a 14-4, mercy-rule win over Carl Junction Sept. 27.
"The last week or so we've done a great job," Nixa coach Matt Walker said. "We've won six out of our last seven games. The team that got us was Liberty North, which won the Springfield Tournament. We've been playing better. We're playing good defense and driving the ball a little better. It's good to see."
The fourth inning was the key, as the Eagles batted around and battered CJ starter Bailey Peterson for eight runs on six hits. Catcher Ashlyn Robertson started the rally with a solid single up the middle. Morgan Jones followed with a base hit of her own and — with the bases loaded and one out — Lauren Herman started a string of three straight RBI hits to turn a 5-3 lead into 9-3.
