Nixa wins 3 of 4 at Carthage Duals

CARTHAGE, Missouri - The Nixa Eagles boy's wrestling team competed in the Carthage Duals on December 29, finishing 3-1 as a team. 

Nixa beat Hickman 53-25, Carthage 39-32, and Raymore-Peculiar 39-27 while falling narrowly to Lee's Summit 40-31.

In the match against Hickman, Nixa won ten of it's 14 matches, with six of those coming by fall. Every Eagle who won by fall pinned their opponent in under two minutes. 

Nixa beat Carthage in a back-and-forth contest by winning seven of it's 14 matches. With Carthage outscoring Nixa 27-3 after six matches, the Eagles stormed back to win by only allowing five more points and scoring 36 of their own.

Nixa's only defeat of the tournament came from Lees Summit, where the score was 34-31 in favor of Lee's Summit. Charles Speake lost a hard fought match that gave Lee's Summit the nine-point win.

In the final match of the day, the Nixa Eagles defeated Raymore-Peculiar. Nixa's 12-point win came via five falls, one of those being a technical fall from Brennan Carey at 195.

Zan Fugitt at 120 who recently committed to the University of Oklahoma on January 6, recorded three falls and a major decision victory.

Missouri commit Peyton Moore at 126 recorded two falls and a technical fall in his three matches.

John Gholson at 220 had a dominant performance with four wins by fall.
