The Nixa boys wrestling team concluded its 2024-2025 season with Reed Wilson,  Jax Adams, Owen Diemoz, and Gavin McAtee qualifying and competing in the 2025 MSHSAA Class 4 Boys Wrestling State Championships on Feb. 28-March 1, 2025.

Of the four, three were able to win at least one match, including one state medalist.

Sophomore and 2024 fifth place medalists Reed Wilson was Nixa's top performer, and the lone Eagle to advance to day two. Wilson was atop the podium for a second consecutive time with a runner-up finish. The 150 pounder pinned Troy's Evan Kileen in the nearing stages of the first period with a 15-4 lead. In the quarterfinals, Wilson grinded out a 3-2 victory over Lafayette's Aidan Schoen to secure his state medal. Wilson scored a takedown in the second period, let surrendered an escape for two points, and held off a furious attack-minded Schoen in the third, advancing him to the semifinals.

Wilson's best match came in the semifinal bout. He upset top-seeded and 2x medalist Hickman's Jordan Fincher for a berth in the championship by decision 6-4. Period one was a scoreless draw. In the dying stages of the second, Wilson scored the first points with a takedown, but Fincher quickly reversed him, making it a 3-2 contest heading into the finale. Fincher scored an escape five seconds into the period to even the contest, but it was short-lived, as Wilson responded with a takedown with 30 seconds left for the 6-3 lead. Fincher got one point back with another escape but time then expired, and Wilson was headed to the first title bout of his early Nixa career.

Wilson was held scoreless in the 150 title match against Ft. Osage's 3x state medalist Colby Gray, falling by decision 4-0 and finishing runner-up. Wilson's sophomore year ended with a record of 37-9 and a second trip to the state podium as the No. 2 best wrestler in the 150 lbs division. It's also the second straight 35-plus win season for Wilson, as he enters his junior year with a career record of 73-23 and a 2x medalist. He was also awarded the Missouri Wrestling Association Boys Class 4 District 3 Wrestler of the Year.

2x qualifier sophomore Jax Adams (132) and first-time qualifier junior Owen Diemoz were able to win one match and finish the tournament 1-2.

Adams won his first-round wrestleback by a major decision 10-1 over Rolla's Carson Mickem and fell by fall in his bubble match. In his opening match, Adams fell to eventual state runner-up by decision to Hickman's Quincey Crawford. He finished the season 32-18.

Diemoz had a 3-1 lead after the second period to Liberty Justice Williams, but let the match slip away in the final 15 seconds, falling by decision 4-3. He advanced to the next round by medical forfeit over Rolla's Jack Mrozowicz before falling to Neosho Carter Howard by tech fall. Diemoz finished the season with a record of 33-16.

First-time qualifier sophomore Gavin McAtee drew a challenging bracket and dropped both of his matches, ending his season at 25-23.
