Nixa volleyball traveled to St. Louis to compete in the highly-competitive Rockwood Classic Invitational on Sept. 8-9 against some of the state's premier teams, including two nationally-ranked teams. 

The Eagles played six games and finished the weekend 5-1, defeating all Missouri-based teams while falling to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) No. 16-nationally ranked St. James Academy (KS).

Nixa opened up the classic on Sept. 8 against Kirkwood and Francis Howell Central (FHC) and swept both teams 2-0. The Eagles defeated Kirkwood 25-22 and 25-19 and FHC 25-12 and 25-21.

On day two (Sept. 9), Nixa swept its first two opponents in Rock Bridge (25-18, 25-17) and St. Teresa's Academy (25-20, 25-13), defeated Liberty North in a tightly-contested and back-and-forth matchup 2-1 (26-24, 26-28, 25-20), and dropped its final and first game of the year to St. James Academy 2-0 (13-25, 24-26).

St. Teresa's and Liberty North both were champions in their respective districts a year ago, and Liberty North won third place in the 2022 state tournament as well. St. James appeared in Kansas' state title game in 2021 and 2022, finishing as the runners-up. St. James finished the classic 5-1 as well, falling to Missouri's defending state champion Lafayette (Wildwood) 2-0, who is also ranked by the AVCA at No. 20.
