Nixa's Guaranty Bank Athlete of the Week for the week of April 15-22 is junior thrower Amelia White.

White competed in the Ozark Invitational (April 16) and Southwest Baptist University (SBU) Bearcat Classic (April 22) and had record-setting performances en route to her first place finishes.

At Ozark, White launched the javelin 39.93m to win the event by a comfortable seven meters in a field of 18 competitors and set a new school record in the process.

Five days later, at SBU, she tossed the javelin 41.55m on her third throw, capturing the gold in the event of 39 athletes, beating and setting another new Nixa standard.

White's two school-record-setting throws surpassed Dakota Hale's previous mark of 38.79m set in 2022. 

The two first medals marked White's fifth of the season, as she was atop the field at Neosho (37.09m), Nixa Quad (38.74m), and Nixa Invitational (36.91m) meets. 

As of April 25, White's 41.55m ranks her No. 9 in the state for all classes. In Class 5, she ranks No. 7.
