Emily Peterson and Paige Morris have a memorable season in their final go-around in representing the Eagles, and it's not over yet.

Nixa's No. 1 doubles pairings topped the entire field at the Class 3 District 5 tennis tournament on Oct. 11, completing an undefeated season (24-0), and punched their tickets to the state tournament. On top of that, the duo captured Springfield, Nixa, and Republic titles in the top flights during the regular season.

Peterson and Morris also helped lead the Eagles to a team district title after defeating Kickapoo and Republic, which marked Nixa's third in the last five years. Two of those titles, they were key pieces of.

They will return to the state tournament on Oct. 23 at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo., for the second consecutive year. This time as a team. Peterson competed individually, while Morris and now graduated Jocelyn Cosegrove competed in doubles.

As a team, the two were significant pieces in Nixa's 13-1 2025 campaign, which will host Liberty in Class 3 state quarterfinals on Oct. 20.

"Emily and Paige helped lead the team to a district title, and were a big reason for a successful regular season (13-1). Their greatest quality is their leadership of our team, on & off the court," said head coach Brock Blansit. "They are the perfect example of what a student athlete should look like. Not only do they spend hours on the tennis courts, but they also dedicate the same amount of time to their studies in the classroom. They will surely be missed next year."
