Mid-season football roundup

After reaching the state championship last year, Nixa football entered the 2025 season with the goal of building on that success. Midway through the season, the Eagles are right on track, currently undefeated as the No. 1-ranked team in Class 6 entering Week 6.

The season began with a road trip to Republic, where Nixa rolled to a 49-21 win. New running back Jayden McCaster introduced himself in a big way, rushing for four touchdowns to power the offense.

Nixa then hosted Webb City for senior night and the home opener. In a hard-fought matchup, the Eagles escaped with a 28-20 win thanks to a defensive stop on fourth down with 2:20 remaining. McCaster scored twice, while quarterback Adam McKnight added a rushing touchdown and connected with Carter Mabe for a passing score.

Week 3 brought a defensive showdown at Joplin, where head coach John Perry was seeking his 200th career win. The Eagles led 14-7 entering the fourth quarter, but Joplin tied the game with just over nine minutes remaining. Nixa responded immediately, as Mabe caught his second touchdown of the night on a screen pass to put the Eagles back in front. McCaster's late touchdown sealed the 28-14 win and gave Perry his milestone victory.

Nixa pulled away in the fourth quarter and secured a 38-22 victory.
