Nixa, the No. 3-ranked team in Class 6 and led by head coach John Perry, defeated Ozark 42-6, Joplin 42-28, and Helias Catholic 45-28 to earn its semifinal berth.

Pattonville, the top-seed in District 3 and led by head coach Steve Smith and his alma mater, captured the title by beating Hazelwood West 56-0 and Ritenour 27-20. The Pirates knocked off Ft. Zumwalt West 56-42 in the quarterfinals. Its five defeats were suffered against Ft. Zumwalt North (34-26), Kirkwood (42-7), Lafayette (Wildwood) (35-0), Parkway West (41-29), and Eureka (49-25).

This semifinal matchup marks the first-ever contest between the two.

Both teams have the potential to run up the scoreboard, but the Eagles nearly average two more touchdowns than Pattonville. Nixa averages 46 to Pattonville 32.4 points per game (PPG). On the defensive side, the Eagles have a firm advantage, as Nixa holds opponents to 16.9 PPG while Pattonville's opponents average 29.3 PPG.

Nixa is making its third Final Four appearance in program history, reaching the state title game each time. The Eagles first appearance was over a decade ago, and they defeated Park Hill 22-10, and finished runners-up in Class 5 to Battle 25-22. Last year, Nixa knocked off Kirkwood 56-46 and were runners-up to De Smet 35-20. Since 2020, the Eagles have won three straight district titles, compiling a record of 62-10.

This will be Pattonville's sixth state semifinal game, but the Pirates have never lifted the elusive trophy. They reached the final four in 1994, 1997, 2000, 2007, and 2017, advancing to the Class 5 title game in two of those years. The Pirates were Class 5 runners-up in 2000 to Rockhurst (23-7) and in 2017 to Staley (36-35).

The other semifinal features Jackson and Lee's Summit. The winners of each will have a date in St. Joseph, Mo., at Missouri Western State – Spratt Memorial Field on Dec. 6.
