Nixa High School hosted its winter National Signing Day on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
Nixa signed seven athletes to the next level. See below who signed where, why they chose their respective schools, and what they plan on studying. Please note that if a signee is not listed below, it will be added when available.
Gina Curry: Drury University, Cheer
Decision: I ultimately chose Drury to continue my athletic and academic career because it offers me so much room to grow in both categories. I was also interested in Asbury University and Liberty University.Â
Intended Major: Elementary EducationÂ
Ceely Young: Mission University, Basketball
Decision: I chose Mission because it is a faith-based school, and it was close to home.
Intended Major: Elementary Education
Taylor Hopper: Drury University, Track
Decision: I chose Drury because I wanted to be part of a legacy in the track and field program and have an esteemed degree in my field of study. I was also very interested in Missouri State.
Intended Major: Clinical and Behavioral Neuroscience
Taylor Hopper: Drury University, Track
Decision: I chose Drury because I loved how they handled their nursing program and the resources provided for it. With athletics, I had good connections with the team's members, had good conversations with Coach Dodson, and liked the track program they offered.
Intended Major: Nursing
Aaron Ashley: University of Alabama-Huntsville, Track
Decision: I chose the University of Alabama Huntsville because it was the perfect fit academically and athletically. I also loved the campus and thought I connected well with the other guys on the team. There were some other schools I looked into, like Illinois State, Drury, and Lipscomb University, but Alabama Huntsville was the best fit for me.
Intended Major: Kinesiology
Rylee Eng: University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. LouisÂ
Decision: I chose UHSP because of their really neat academic program, the opportunity to be accepted for internships at nearby hospitals on campus, and the ability to practice around my school schedule. I was interested in Chicago State University. I had a great opportunity to go DI at Chicago, but it did not compare to the academic opportunities I would have at UHSP.Â
Intended Major: Biomedical Sciences for Dermatology
