Nixa volleyball coach Annie Zimmerman would very much like to bottle up the first two sets her Eagles played against Carl Junction Oct. 11. That third set? That one she'd like to dump out.
The Eagles dropped a three-set thriller to Carl Junction 18-25, 27-25, 25-16. Nixa opened Class 4 District 11 play Oct. 17 with a 25-16, 25-14 win over West Plains. The third-seeded Eagles play No. 2 Kickapoo at 6:15 p.m. Oct. 19 in the semifinals, with the district championship match slated for a 7:30 start.
"Whatever happened when we moved on the other side of the floor, it just went downhill really fast," Zimmerman said. "The defensive piece wasn't there. And when that wasn't there, we couldn't get the offense to flow."
