A seven-point loss in the second set to Willard didn't rattle Nixa Sept. 13. Instead the young Eagles made adjustments and picked up a quality Central Ozark Conference volleyball win, 25-20, 18-25, 25-20 on their home court.
"The great thing about youth sometimes is they're not scared," Nixa coach Annie Zimmerman said. "They don't know any better, so they just go out and play. That's been a good energy boost for some of our older players as well."
Nixa (9-4 all, 1-0 COC) was back on its heels after dropping the second set. Willard quickly expanded a 17-15 lead to 22-15 to force a third and deciding set.Â
