Lexie Gregory served the first point for Nixa Aug. 30. Then she served the second. And the third. All of a sudden it was 11-0 Nixa.

That hot start fueled the Eagles to a 25-15, 25-16 nonconference win over Joplin.

"Always a good thing when you can start off a game 9-0," Nixa coach Annie Zimmerman said. "We had some very good, consistent serving by one of our freshmen, who's getting a lot of varsity time, so that was a bright spot."

Senior Alissa Flint was another bright spot attacking the ball offensively and blocking it defensively in both sets of the win, including four attacks in the first 11 points of the first set.
