Everywhere on the court, Nixa middle hitter Jordan Collard and her Lady Eagles teammates are responding exceptionally well to all that is being asked of them.

Collard was strong at the net again Tuesday while helping Nixa go to 5-0 with a sweep of Kickapoo. The Lady Eagles whipped the Chiefs 25-19, 25-14.

Collard and Taylor Goleman led Nixa's near-perfect  offensive effort with five kills apiece.

"This boosts our confidence," Colllard said. "I was a little nervous about tonight, to be honest. This is an important win for us. Our hitting was strong and our blocking was super strong."

When the Lady Chiefs tried to go away from Collard, Nixa outside hitter Kenzie Hines answered with five blocks.

Collard, who leads the Lady Eagles in blocks, has enjoyed being part of their block party since being moved to middle hitter three years ago.

"When I got moved to middle, I was forced to get in the rhythm of blocking everywhere on the court," Collard said. "It pushed me to work hard to succeed.

"It was nerve wracking. I felt like I had to be everywhere. That was stressful at times. But I've improved a lot and enjoy it. I've worked a lot at it and feel it is one of my stronger aspects of the game."

"Jordan is doing extremely well blocking," coach Annie Zimmerman added. "Her timing is very good. She's so athletic. She's able to get where she needs to be — up in the air and over the net before the hitter's swing. She's making a huge difference for us."

Nixa not only beat Kickapoo at the net, but the back row. Johna Wagner contributed a dozen kills, Jaycee Fixsen posted a pair of aces and Sydney Golden dished out 18 assists.
