Ozark Fall Festival Tournament Roundup

Nixa Lady Eagles softball fell to the Rolla Lady Bulldogs in the opening game of the Ozark Fall Festival Sept. 10-11 by a score of 9-5. The Lady Bulldogs struck first in the bottom of the second inning with a double to left field that drove in a run and four more runs followed in the second. The Lady Eagles loaded the bases with one out in the top of the fourth but couldn't capitalize on it. Rolla scored again in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly and scored two more to make the score 7-0. Nixa put up a fight in the top of the seventh with a 2-run single to right field, an RBI double and a 3-run home run from Dakota Hale. It proved to be too little too late as Rolla held on to an 8-6 lead.

Next up was the Smithville, and the Lady Warriors edged Nixa by three, 5-2. A contest with Marquette followed after and Nixa fell just short, 6-4. On Saturday (Sept. 11), Nixa fell to Poplar Bluff by a score 7-6, and then shut out Excelsior Springs of 8-0 in the third-place game.

Following the Fall Festival, Nixa hosted cross-town rival, Ozark Sept. 14, and defeated the Lady Tigers 4-2, propelled by Maddy Meierer's complete game and 7 strikeout performance.

Rake at the Lake Tournament Roundup

The Lady Eagles finished third in the Rake at the Lake defeating Southern Boone (7-2), Stoutland (16-0) and St. Elizabeth (7-1) Sept. 17-18. Nixa fell to Fulton in the semifinals 2-1. Nixa's victory against St. Elizabeth secured third place for the Lady Eagles.

Phoebe Gardner finished the weekend going 7-13 with 5 RBIs and two walks. Dakota Hale also had a big tournament, going 5-12 with a home run and 3 RBIs.

Meierer pitched against Southern Boone and Fulton, finishing 1-1 on the weekend. Meierer pitched six innings in both games and only allowed four hits and two earned runs against Southern Boone. Against Fulton, she allowed four hits and one earned run in the defeat.

Paige Garetson pitched against Stoutland and St. Elizabeth. Garetson only pitched two innings against Stoutland and gave up one hit and finished with three strikeouts, due to an offensive outbreak from Nixa and enacting the mercy rule, as they defeated the Lady Tigers 16-0.
In the third-place game, she pitched seven innings, giving up five hits and only allowing one earned run.

The Lady Eagles fell to McDonald County Sept. 20, 7-5 to continue their regular-season schedule and defeated Branson 7-2 the following day, remaining perfect (4-0) in the COC.

Nixa continues their season Thursday, Sept. 23, with a home game against Webb City in a pivotal matchup of top COC teams.
