2023 Class 6 District 5 girls basketball tournament bracket and information

The Class 6 District 5 girls basketball tournament bracket and seeds have been released.

The district features Carthage, Glendale Joplin, Kickapoo, Neosho, Nixa, Ozark, and Republic.

Nixa is the tournament host, and all games will be played at Nixa High School.

After triumphing in its final four games of the regular season, tournament-host Nixa (20-6) attempts to regain its first district title since 2021 and received the No. 2 seed in the district and is slated to face COC-foe Neosho (10-16) in the opening round on March 1 at 7 p.m.

Nixa ended its regular-season campaign by cruising to a double-digit victory over Neosho 70-40, and currently owns a nine-game winning streak over the Wildcats, dating back to 2017. 

Other first-round matchups entail, No. 1 Republic (23-3) vs. No. 8 Joplin (4-22) at 4 p.m., No. 4 Glendale (20-6) vs. No. 5 Ozark (14-12) at 5:30 p.m., and No. 3 Kickapoo (20-6) vs. No. 6 Carthage (12-14) at 8:30 p.m.

In the regular season, Nixa also defeated Ozark (60-56 OT), Joplin (74-18), and Carthage (68-37). Nixa fell to Republic (62-57) and did not face Glendale or Kickapoo.

Coming into the tournament, Republic is on a nine-game winning streak, Glendale, Kickapoo, and Nixa all have won four-straight games, while Carthage is on a two-game winning streak.
