Volleyball is off to a strong start, holding a 15-6 record heading into October and the Kansas St. Thomas Aquinas Tournament.

Nixa started 5-1 with wins over Fayetteville, Webb City, Jefferson City, Republic, and Willard, while falling to Helias.

The Eagles traveled to St. Louis for their first tournament of the year, facing high-caliber opponents and finishing 2-4 in the Rockwood Classic Tournament. Nixa defeated Festus St. Pius X and Marquette, and fell to Lafayette, Hoover, Ala., Lee's Summit West, and Jackson.

Following the tournament, Nixa gained momentum, winning eight of its last nine games, including sweeps of Carthage, Staley, Rock Bridge, Bryant (Ark.), Joplin, Waynesville, Kickapoo, and Lebanon. In the stretch, Nixa fell to Bentonville West, Ark. (2-0) in the Springfield Classic Tournament.

The regular season will conclude in mid-October, featuring two tournaments — the St. Thomas Aquinas, Kan., Tournament and the Ozark Grand Slam — as well as games against Glendale, Springfield Central, and Ozark.

The Class 5 District 6 tournament is scheduled for Oct. 21-28 at Ozark High School. District 6 features Branson, Carthage, Glendale, Joplin, Kickapoo, Nixa, Neosho, Ozark, and Republic.
