10/8/2025 1:40:00 PM

Taylor Wood cemented her name in the Nixa volleyball record books by recording the program's first-ever triple-double in Eagles sweep of Kickapoo on Oct. 2.

The true six-rotation player had a dominating performance with 12 kills, 15 assists, and 16 digs in the 25-20, 25-22, 25-18 victory over the Springfield rival.

A stalwart on the basketball court and the goalkeeper for the Eagles 2025 Final Four squad carried this momentum throughout the last week. In a stretch of seven games from Oct.1-8, Wood tallied 56 kills, 43 digs, and 74 assists, helping the squad defeat Lebanon, Rock Bridge, and Glendale, in addition to Kickapoo. The Eagles were tested against high-caliber opponents from Kansas in the St. Thomas Aquinas Tournament on Oct. 4, falling to the host, Blue Valley West, and Olathe West.

Wood has been a pivotal player for the 17-9 Eagles entering Nixa's matchup against Springfield Central on Oct. 9. She surpassed the 200-dig mark over the weekend (201), and leads the team in total blocks with 23, and is second on the team in kills (209), with a .234 hitting percentage, and assists (256).

The senior has a profound impact on every aspect of the game and embodies the values of Nixa's volleyball program, who seek to make a deep postseason run after the team concludes the Ozark Grand Slam (Oct. 10-11) and the regular-season finale against Ozark on Oct. 14.

"Senior Taylor Wood had an incredible week of performances for Nixa volleyball, showcasing her all-around impact on the court. In Nixa's match against Kickapoo, Taylor made program history by earning the first-ever triple-double in Nixa volleyball history, finishing the night with 12 kills, 15 assists, and 16 digs," said assistant coach Emelie Orlando. "As a true six-rotation player, Taylor's versatility allows her to influence every aspect of the game — whether she's setting, attacking, blocking, or serving. Her competitiveness, leadership, and work ethic embody what it means to be an athlete and a leader for Nixa volleyball. We are so glad she's on our team."
