2025 girls swim state recap: relays place top 25

The Nixa girls swimming and diving team concluded its 2024-25 season by competing in the 2025 MSHSAA Class 2 State Championships meet on Feb. 20-21 at the St. Peter's Rec-Plex in St. Peter's, Mo.

Nixa qualified in the 200 and 400-freestyle relays.

The top 32 swimmers in Missouri in their respective events jumped in the waters for the preliminary rounds on Feb. 20, and then 16 capped off the finals on Feb. 21.

In the preliminary competition, Nixa swam a season-best and set new personal records, but could not advance to the final rounds.

Each team placed 23rd in its respective event.

The 200 team of Kylie Avens (27.37), Alyvia Gordon (28.15), Lucy Hronek (26.80), and Lillian Robison (28.57) shredded over a second off their previous time, finishing at 1:50.89. Their entry time was 1:52.00.

The quartet ousted Francis Howell, Kickapoo, Oak Park, Hickman, Jackson, Carthage, Timberland, Parkway South, and Blue Springs South.

The 400 team of Hronek (59.50), Gordon (1:01.50), Alivia Giddens (1:03.90), and Avens (58.99) dropped over five seconds to set a new best, clocking in at 4:03.89. Their entry time was 4:09.34.

The four finished ahead of Lindbergh, Francis Howell, Blue Springs, Lee's Summit West, Carthage, Kickapoo, Lebanon, Lee's Summit North, and Cor Jesu Academy.
