Boys soccer final roundup, season recap

The Eagles capped off its regular season by winning eight of its final 11 games.

Nixa went 2-1 in the Kickapoo Shootout, shutting out Capital City (5-0) and Francis Howell North (2-0), while falling to Jackson (3-1).

Following, the Eagles endured a stretch of eight games, four at home and four on the road. During that stint, Nixa went undefeated on its home turf and outscored its opponents 20-1, including shutout victories over Waynesville (6-0), Lebanon (8-0), and Neosho (4-0). The Eagles squeaked out a 2-1 victory over Springfield Central.

On the road, Nixa knocked off Joplin 5-1 and its cross-town rival Ozark, 2-1, to capture the Christian County Cup for the first time. The Eagles suffered setbacks against Kickapoo, 1-0, and Glendale, 5-1.

The victory against Neosho marked the final game of the regular season, capping off a 16-8 record and No. 2 seed in the district. 

Postseason play began with a dominating shut-out victory over Rolla, 6-0. Nixa extended its winning streak over Ozark to three following a thrilling overtime semifinal victory 4-3, where midfielder Jake Harvey scored the golden-goal penalty kick with three minutes left.

The Eagles reached their third consecutive district title game but fell to Glendale 2-1 in a rematch of last year's district final. Nixa went down 2-0 at halftime and scored an early second-half goal from Jackson Lutzke, but could not complete the comeback.

On the year, Nixa tallied 70 goals for and 30 against with 11 shutouts.

Forward Gavin Shaw started in all 27 games and led the Eagles in scoring for the 2025 campaign, finishing with 18 goals and eight assists. Shaw's breakout junior season included a hat-trick against Waynesville and four braces dealt to Branson, Monett, Webb City, and Lebanon.

Fellow forward Keagan Pycior concluded his Nixa career second on the team in goals behind Shaw with 13, including three two-goal performances against Joplin, Waynesville, and Rolla. He added nine assists as well. Pycior concluded his Nixa career as the program's 14th all-time scoring leader, ending with 33 goals and 19 assists for 85 points.

Junior midfielders Jake Harvey (8) and Ryker Pabst (7) also added to the Eagles attack, combining for 15.

Senior goalkeeper Mason Adair started every game and had 78 saves, allowed less than a goal per game, and had eight shut-out. Adair concludes as Nixa's third all-time games played with 72.5 in his career.

Jake Harvey (1st), Mason Adair (1st), Conner Shaar (1st), Gavin Shaw (2nd), and Ryker Pabst (2nd) were named to the All-Conference team. Harvey, Adair, Shaar, Shaw, Pabst, and Sam Krans were selected to the All-District team. Keagan Pycior and Gavin Benscoter were honorable mention All-District.

Shaar, Shaw, and Harvey were selected to the Class 4 Region 3 (Districts 5-6) team. Shaar received Missouri's top honors, Class 4 All-State 2nd Team. Logan Huff was tabbed with Academic All-State honors.

Nixa concluded the 2025 campaign with its 11th consecutive winning season a record of 18-9, achieving the most wins since 2016, and a final ranking of No. 26 in Class 4 out of 64 teams.
