Athlete of the Week: Shaelee Franck New Nixa Career Record Holder

4/8/2026 11:16:00 AM

Seven games into the season, records have already been shattered for the undefeated Nixa girls soccer team.

Shaelee Franck became Nixa's all-time leading goal scorer in a two-goal performance against Sedalia Smith-Cotton on March 27. Those goals marked No. 93 and No. 94 of her illustrious Nixa career. 94 cemented Franck atop the chart, surpassing Alex Johnson's previous mark of 93, which had stood for almost a decade (2014-2017).

In the following game at Webb City, the senior netted a hat trick, which was also a record-setting night. She entered the game with 226-career points, and the three goals added six additional points, breaking Johnson's career points mark of 228.

The four-year letterman played a pivotal role in helping Nixa reach its first Final Four in 12 years last season, where the Eagles finished fourth in Class 4 with a record of 21-4.

No matter the opponent, scoring is second nature to Franck, even in the big games.

"Shae has scored against all comers throughout her career. Our schedule is as tough as we can make it, and she scores against everybody, not just against our weaker opponents," said head coach Evan Palmer. " In our run to the Final Four last year, she had five goals in three district games, the game-winning goal against Blue Springs South in the quarterfinal, and our only goal we scored at the Final Four."

Following last year's season, postseason accolades stacked for the attacker, as she became the first Nixa player to achieve National recognition. The two-time first-team All-State selection was recognized by the United Soccer Coaches Association with a spot on the 2024-25 Winter/Spring Girls High School All-Central Region team. She was the lone player from the southwest Missouri area selected, which included players from Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Franck has the Eagles right on pace to reach this feat again and hoisting its third straight district championship. She has scored in every game this season, totaling 13 goals (almost 2 per game), including two hat tricks, entering its April 14 matchup against Carthage.

The University of Northern Iowa signee reached another milestone in those 13 goals. Nixa ousted Park Hill South (PHS) in double overtime (2-1) and Liberty (2-0) on April 3-4. Franck scored both goals against PHS and the game-winner against Liberty, surpassing 100 career goals.

"Shae got the record and has continued to score at a blistering pace," said head coach Evan Palmer. "She scored three of the four goals against Park Hill South and Liberty, helping the team win both games against those teams for the first time in our history."

Franck thrives on the field, but her teammates in a decorated senior class have contributed significantly to her success and the Nixa girls soccer legacy they've been imprinting.

"Shae and her fellow seniors have really left their mark on the program. Shae, Mackinzie Harris, Jade Johnson, London and Lilly Kirk, Anahi Lozano, Sam McClain, and Bria Smith have been either starting or playing significant roles on this team since their freshman year," Palmer stated. "To be so dominant for four years is unprecedented, and they will have the most wins in a four year career in our history.

"Shae is great to have on the team and fun to be around. She doesn't take herself too seriously and is humble about her accomplishments," Palmer also added.
