Team Tournament Outcomes:
Semifinals
In the semifinals, Nixa defeated Kickapoo in a tightly contested matchup 5-3. The win sends Nixa to its fourth straight district title, seeking to regain the throne after falling to Ozark a year ago, 5-4.
Nixa got singles victories from Emily Peterson, Paige Morris, Hannah Schiman, and June Hronek, and in doubles, Peterson and Schiman.
The Eagles will face Republic, who knocked off Branson 5-1 in its semifinal, on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Nixa High School. The two clashed in the district title tilt in 2023, with Nixa edging Republic 5-3.
Championship
After falling to Ozark by one match in the district title tilt a year ago, Nixa regained the district throne, prevailing over Republic 5-1.
The Eagles won all their singles matches and dropped the No. 2 doubles match in a tiebreaker to help lead the Eagles to victory.
The district championship marks Nixa's third in the last five years and sends the Eagles to the Class 3 state quarterfinals, where the squad will host and face a big test in the Liberty Blue Jays on Monday, Oct. 20.
Liberty (20-3), the top seed in District 8, knocked off Staley 5-0 and Lee's Summit North 5-2 to secure its fourth straight berth to the state tournament.
The two squads met in the 2022 quarterfinal, and the Blue Jays swept the Eagles. Liberty has reached the Final Four in the previous three seasons, placing fourth in 2022, second in 2023, and third a year ago.
